How it Works - Users

A user is someone who visits the site to find a local business. Users can view the listings and use the contact details they find to approach a business without an account. If a user wants to make use of any of the functionality such as submitting reviews, they will need to create an account. We insist on this to protect our business owners from unwarranted communications.

How it Works - Authors/Business Owners

All business owners will need to create an account before adding a listing

Add a Listing

To set up a listing, firstly create an account, log in and select ‘Add Listing‘ from the navigation menu.

  • Package – Select the package you would like to choose. If you are unsure, please refer to the guide below.
  • Business Name – Enter your business name.
  • Business Description – Enter as much detail about your business as you can. What you do, where you do it, why you do it etc
  • Tags – Select from the list or add in new tags by typing text and pressing enter. Tags are used as search terms on the site so the more you have that are relevant to your business, the more chance someone will find your business.
  • Category – Either select a category that best suits your business from the list or select ‘Category Not Listed’ and it will be created during listing moderation.
  • Address – Enter your business address, postcode or town and click ‘Set Address on Map’. All other fields in the map section will auto-populate.
  • Images – Upload the images you’d like to appear on your listing. The first listing you upload will be used as your profile image – please note there is a limit of 20 images per listing.
  • Logo – Upload your logo and this will be displayed on the map when clicked.
  • Phone – Enter your business phone number.
  • Email – Enter your business email address.
  • Website – If you have an existing website, add your URL.
  • Facebook – If you have a business Facebook account, enter your URL.
  • Instagram – If you have a business Instagram account, enter your URL.
  • X (Twitter) – If you have a business X account, enter your URL.
  • X (Twitter) Feed – If you have a business X account and want to display your feed on your listing, enter your username.
  • Video – Enter the URL of a YouTube or Vimeo video.
  • Special Offers – This is a free-text field where you can list any offers you may be running.
  • Business Hours – Enter your opening hours.
  • Service Distance – Enter the distance radius from your business location within which you offer your services (in miles).

And that’s it! Once you have everything loaded, either preview your listing or click ‘Submit’. Please note, if you preview the listing, a new tab will open on your browser. Once you’ve reviewed the preview, close the tab and revert back to your listing form.

Once submitted, your listing will be moderated and then published. You will receive an email notification as soon as it’s live.

If you need to edit your listing at a later date, login and then either navigate to the listing and click ‘Edit’ at the bottom of the screen or go to ‘Profile’ in the Account menu and you’ll see your listing(s) below your profile images.

Claim a Listing

The admins of this site have already added a number of business listings. If you’d like to claim a listing as your own, then please register an account, navigate to the listing and select ‘Claim Listing’ at the bottom. Our admins will review your request and either approve or reject your claim. You will be notified by email once our decision has been made and, assuming you are successful, you will then be able to edit the listing.

Upgrade a Listing

If you would like to upgrade your listing to a bespoke package, please navigate to your listing from your profile in the account menu, select it and scroll to the bottom where you’ll find an ‘Upgrade’ button. This will take you to an edit listing screen where you can select your new package. Once completed, click ‘Submit Listing’ and you will be taken to a payment screen to secure the upgrade.

I will then contact you to discuss the bespoke layout and content.

Starter Package

This package is no longer available

The starter package had restrictions in place to limit what level of detail could be entered. This is now retired and every business owner can take full advantage of all the full features for their listing.

Standard Package

What the package allows:

  • Twenty Images – Upload your first image which will be used as your profile picture in the listings page and in your listing detail. You can also add a further four images which will appear as a carousel that will scroll automatically when someone views your listing. Use this to show off examples of your experience, flyers, images of you – whatever you like!
  • Contact Details – You can add:
    • Phone number
    • Business address
    • Email address
    • Website URL
  • Contact Form – allow potential customers to contact you via a form on your listing.
  • Location Visible on Google Maps – When you enter your address, click ‘Set Address on Map’ and your location will be displayed.
  • Social Media Links – Add in buttons for all your social media accounts.
  • Manage Your Own Listing – You can manage your listing from your profile in the account menu.
  • Search Engine Optimisation – Your listing page will be searchable by the likes of Google and Bing so whenever someone searches for your business name, the profile on this site should appear in the results. The ranking of this profile will improve over time as more people view your page.
  • Business Description – This is a free-text field to sell your business and your services. Include as much relevant information as possible to increase the chances of contact from a customer.
  • Tags – You may enter as many tags as you like. These will be searchable so make them relevant so people can find you.
  • Categories – You may enter as many categories as you like. These will be searchable so ensure you’re only add your listing to relevant categories.
  • Service Area Radius – Please enter the distance radius from your location within which you provide your services (in miles).
  • Reviews – Only logged-in users will be able to leave reviews against your listing profile based on their experience of having made a purchase from you. All reviews are moderated by the site admins. To verify genuineness, we will contact you by email and share the reviewers name only. You will need to approve that they are a genuine customer before the review is published.
  • Upload Your Company Logo – You can add this to your image gallery too but by adding it to the logo-specific field, your logo will appear on the map when clicked.
  • Add a Video – Do you have a video that could help advertise your products or services? We only accept videos hosted on YouTube or Vimeo so please upload them there first and simply add the link to your listing profile.
  • Opening Hours – You will find an opening hours section within your profile for you to complete.
  • Google Analytics – Visitor analytics statistics will be displayed on your listing for you to view. This gives you an insight on how much of an impression your listing is having and how effective our site is at reaching an audience. An example screenshot can be seen here.

Bespoke Package

This package is charged at £5 pcm and payment is required for 12 months in advance

You can create your very own bespoke page in a layout of your choosing. Use your brand colours, use background images, your own font etc.

To get started:

Simply let us know your page design and we’ll build it for you. If you’re unsure how you’d like this to look then we can come up with a design for you. We already have an example set up here.

  • Opening Hours – You will find an opening hours section within your profile for you to complete.
  • Google Analytics – Visitor analytics statistics will be displayed on your listing for you to view (only listing owners can see this). This gives you an insight on how much of an impression your listing is having and how effective our site is at reaching an audience. An example screenshot can be seen here.
  • Plus anything else we can technically achieve – this could be a FAQs section, some reviews you’ve received from other social media, links to your Google Business listing, embed booking forms if you have an existing booking platform such as Calendly + more!
